Details

Sizes:  Small to 3XL

The Gibson Girl was the ideal of feminine beauty at the turn of the 20th century. She often wore a soft, loosely fitted blouse of light cotton or silk with a high collar to accentuate her slender neck. A blouse worn with a skirt became the American woman's favorite fashion. By 1905, the Sears Roebuck catalogue offered 150 versions of this blouse, from cotton to lace and taffeta.

The high-collar, back-buttoning yoke style is still just as flattering today. This blouse is lovely over a skirt or it can be cut longer to tuck in. Instructions for optional tucks and lace insertion are included.

Our sewing pattern features the full-shaped front gathered into a rounded yoke, embellished in View B with clusters of tucks and lace insertion. Three-quarter length sleeves are gathered at the shoulders and into narrow cuffs.

In View A, the high collar and yoke are finished with lace; in View B, rows of stitched lace replace the collar, as was the fashion. Tucks and lace insertion on the body of the blouse are optional. Instructions are given in View B for a traditional bias bound cuff. The back opening and cuffs fasten with tiny buttons or hooks and eyes; clusters of gathers at center back are held in place by narrow ties, which encircle the waist and tie in front.

Suggested fabrics: Soft lightweight fabrics such as batiste, lawn, muslin, silk, gingham, or calico.

Era: Edwardian, late 1800s to early 1900s

How quickly will I receive my order?

I know I use the word "we" a lot, but currently its just me, Amy, over here! I can't promise any less than a 48 hour delivery window but I'll always try to get orders out as quickly as possible - I know you want to get sewing asap! Pro tip: I know weekends are a common time to work on projects so if you order by 10am on Friday, you'll likely have your patterns by Saturday am!

What kind of paper are the patterns printed on?

We print your patterns on 20# (copy paper weight) 36x48 white paper sheets, then roll them instead of folding it so that there aren't any creases!

What if there's something wrong with my order?

We will always check the scale of the printed pattern using a ruler against the provided scale square.

If you receive a printed pattern from us that has been printed at the incorrect scale, please reach out and we will remedy that asap!

We are not responsible for any errors within the pattern itself.

What is your cancellation and returns policy?

Your order cannot be cancelled or refunded once we begin fulfilling it. If you need to cancel your order immediately after placing it, please reach out via our contact form asap! Your card is charged once we drop the order off at a pickup location because that is when we consider the order fulfilled.

What do you do with the PDF files after they are printed?

Files will be deleted after your order has been fulfilled, usually in about one week. Because we are not the owner or copyright holder of the file, we won't ever use it for anything else or keep it on our devices any longer than necessary!

Where are my patterns being printed?

They are printed on my large format printer right here in Madison, Wisconsin! Once the brick and mortar shop is open, you'll be able to have your patterns printed while you shop. For now, we are partnering with local businesses to provide pickup locations.
